Waskos named Prairie Day Pioneers of the Year

The Prairie Day Association named Mike and Jeanne Wasko as Pioneers of the Year for 2026. The two will be recognized at 7 p.m. Friday, July 10 during the dinner at Lions Park. They also will be featured in the Prairie Day Parade, which starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11 on Oak (main) St.

Jeanne’s “Our Journey to and the Nezperce Years” essay is featured in this week’s Lewis County Herald.

“One thing that hasn’t changed is that Nezperce is and always has been willing to step up and provide whatever is needed be it a swimming pool, library, band shell, EMS building, park benches or sewer,” Jeanne wrote.
