SBA offers disaster-recovery loans
If your home or business was damaged in the December 2025 windstorm, the Small Business Administration is offering low-interest loans to help with recovery from declared disasters.
The loans are available to homeowners, renters, private nonprofit organizations, and businesses of all sizes to recover from declared disasters.
You must be located in a declared disaster area and meet other eligibility criteria depending on the type of loan. Visit the SBA website to determine if you’re eligible. For the December windstorm, make sure to put the date range as 12/16/2025 - 12/18/2025. It’s disaster # ID-20027.
Types of loans available:
- Physical damage loans - Loans to cover repairs and replacement of physical assets damaged in a declared disaster.
- Mitigation assistance - Expanded funding to make sure improvements are made to eliminate future damage.
- Economic injury disaster loans - Funding to cover small business operating expenses after a declared disaster.
- Military reservist loan - SBA provides loans to help eligible small businesses cover operating expenses while employees are on active duty leave.
