The Nezperce Lion’s Club is a civic organization for men that raises money for various town projects and scholarships. The club’s most visible and frequent fundraiser takes the form of its well-known burger booth, which can be found at various locations throughout town depending on the event. The Lions sell burgers at Prairie Days, the Lewis County Fair, the yard sale, Halloween and many other local events. They also team up with high school groups to sell burgers and help the kids earn money.
Recently, the Lion’s Club started leasing the old Protestant Church/Senior Center at 501 Cedar St. While the Senior Center operates in the basement of the building, the Lion’s Club is transforming the main portion of the property into a basketball court. Nezperce has long needed an additional court for younger kids to use as Bradley Gymnasium is often busy with high school sports. The transformation will take some time, however. The Lion’s Club expect it to be operational in a year or so.
In addition to the burger booth, the Lion’s Club also hosts a Brew Fest in the spring, a Fall Ball in November and last year they held a tough truck competition on the Sunday after the Fair.
